Program
The school will be held in person, from July 21st to July 24th, 2025. The format includes ex-cathedra lessons and sessions dedicated to engaging participants through interactive activities and group work. The lessons will be organized as short modules (max 1h) to provide relevant elements that participants will embrace and delve into during the following workshops, discussion sessions, and group work activities assisted by tutors.
Tentative Program
Day 1: Monday, July 21
- 14:00–14:30: Opening remarks and objectives of the School.
Theme: Cultural Heritage and Urban Justice in the Mediterranean region
- 14:30–15:30: Keynote: “De-centring in More-than-Human Design: A Provocation on Spatial Justice and Urban Conflict” by Shaimaa Lazem (City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications, Egypt).
- 15:30–16:00: Coffee break
- 16:00–17:00 Interactive technologies for cultural heritage in the Mediterranean area (Valentina Nisi & Nuno Nunes).
- 17:00–17:45: Interactive session: Icebreaker activity and group networking.
- 18:00: Welcome networking event.
Day 2: Tuesday, July 22
Theme: LLMs-enhanced interactive systems
- 09:30–10:30: “Generative AI: Design and HCI Perspectives” by Heloisa Candello (IBM Brazil).
- 10:30–11:00: Coffee break
- 11:00–12:30: Workshop: Designing LLM-enhanced UIs.
- 12:30–14:00: Lunch Break
- 14:00–15:30: Joint lecture: “Interactive games for Cultural Heritage” by Valentina Nisi and “Bauhaus of the Seas” by Nuno Nunes (Istituto Superior Tecnico, Portugal).
- 15:30–16:00: Coffee break
- 16:00–17:30: Group discussions: Challenges and opportunities in interaction paradigms.
Day 3: Wednesday, July 23
Theme: Human-Centered AI
- 09:30–10:30: Lecture: “Algorithmic Fairness and Explainability in AI” by Tsvi Kuflik (University of Haifa, Israel).
- 10:30–11:00: Coffee break
- 11:00–12:.30: Interactive session: Ethical considerations in Human-Centered AI.
- 12:30–14:00: Lunch
- 14:00–15:30: Group project brainstorming: Real-world scenarios for AI-based systems.
- 15:30: Social networking event
Day 4: Thursday, July 24 (Half-day, ending at 12 PM)
Theme: Advanced Interaction Paradigms
- 9:30–10:30: Lecture: “Multimodal Mobile Interaction: Making the Most of Users’ Capabilities” by Stephen Brewster (University of Glasgow, UK).
- 10:30–12:00: Coffee Break & Exhibition of students’ posters (group projects)
- 12:00: Closing ceremony and announcement of project awards.
